Local people’s views on health and care services to be shared with leaders at public meeting

Health and care leaders will hear what local people and communities expect from services over the coming years at a public meeting of the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care System (BSW ICS) Partnership Board on Friday 25th February.

The feedback has been gathered as part of the Shaping a Healthier Future engagement project. This offered the public a chance to have their say on the region’s new health and care model which will provide a framework for how future services are designed and planned.

The views of hundreds of local people were collected through engagement events, a public survey, interviews with seldom-heard groups and virtual and in-person workshops.

These findings and how they have been used to improve the health and care model will now be shared with leaders of local hospitals, social care services, mental health services, ambulance services and other health and care services.

The meeting will also be attended by Chief Executives of Voluntary Action Swindon and Wessex Community Action, two of the infrastructure organisations who are members of the BSW VCSE Leadership Alliance.  The board will consider the diverse range of support and skills across the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise Sector in the BSW area, how its important voice will be represented across the system and what the opportunities are for the sector to be a valued partner in the Integrated Care System.

Members of the public are encouraged to pose written questions to the BSW Partnership Board in advance of the meeting which will receive answers on the day. The deadline for questions is 5pm on Tuesday 22nd February.

The meeting will also be attended by Sue Harriman, the new Chief Executive Officer Designate of the BSW Integrated Care Board. Sue recently joined the organisation from the Solent NHS Community and Mental Health Trust in Hampshire.

Stephanie Elsy, Chair of the BSW Partnership said:

“BSW Partnership Board meetings are part of our commitment to be as open and transparent as possible and provide a great opportunity for the public to hold those who make decisions about the future of health and care services to account.

For anyone with even a passing interest in how health and care services are organised in BSW, this really is an important event.”
